2008 Bill Reference Numbers: in the House this
bill is # HB334, in the Senate # SB329.
This is where we'll keep you posted on the status of "The Tim Tebow Bill".
Spring 2008 Status:
The bills have been introduced into the House and the Senate
again this year but that they are stalled in the Education
Committees just as they have been for the past two years!
Please contact the House and
Senate Education Committee members today and ask for a public
hearing and for their support!
Here is a chronological list of events in the development of this bill:
- Feb. 18, 2005 - Gina Brown of Glencoe contacts Rep. Blaine
Galliher.
- April 19, 2005 - Rep. Galliher introduces bill analyst to Gina Brown.
- April 26, 2005 - First draft of bill is emailed to Gina.
- May 4, 2005 - Revised bill draft sent to Gina.
- August 25, 2005 - Bob Johnson of Associated Press calls Gina for
interview.
- August 28, 2005 - Article by Bob Johnson published is several papers
statewide.
- September 8, 2005 - Rep. Blaine Galliher pre-files bill.
- October 10, 2005 - Ann Nelson of Mentone reads AP article online.
- October 13, 2005 - Ann Nelson sends email across the state to find
supporters, over 350 families respond "in favor" of this bill.
- January 10, 2006 - Rep. Galliher introduces House Bill 20.
- January 19, 2006 - Senator Hank Erwin introduces Senate Bill 312.
- February 8, 2006 - Public Hearing in the House Education Committee:

The bill failed to get out of committee this session
which ended April 6, 2006, we will continue our efforts and push for the
bill to pass in 2007!

November 9,2006 - ESPN filming at the Guyse's house!
ESPN is filming a special on "Equal Access" they will be including the Guyse
family in their story! Program scheduled to air Sunday, January 7,
2007 at 8:30am on ESPN's "Outside The Lines" show.
